Body odor control
Tips to help control body odor

Body odor. You may be just starting to notice it. In addition to all the other changes taking place in your body, one of the effects of puberty is an increase in sweat gland activity, especially under your arms and around your genitals. This sweat is sometimes accompanied by an unpleasant odor which can make you feel uncomfortable or even embarrassed.

In order to control body odor, you need to know the basics about sweat. You may be surprised to learn that sweat, itself, doesn't smell. There are actually two types of sweat glands: eccrine glands and apocrine glands. Body odor usually begins with the apocrine sweat glands. When sweat from the apocrine gland mixes with the bacteria on your skin, a strong odor is produced. It's a natural process, but still one that everyone wants to control. And at a time when so much is changing with your body, odor is the last thing you need to worry about. But don't sweat it! Below are some tips for body odor control:

  • Shower or bathe each day
  • Wash or bathe after exercising
  • Apply a deodorant/antiperspirant product in your arm pit area each day
  • Wear natural-fiber clothes such as cotton or wool, which help your skin breathe
  • Change your pantiliner throughout the day, every day of the month to stay fresh
  • When you have your period, change your tampon, pad or panty liner frequently

With just a few minor changes to your daily routine you'll be on your way to taking control of your body odor!

CAREFREE® Pantiliners provide excellent added protection against perspiration that can lead to odor. Check out the CAREFREE® featured products.
